Elena Volkov

I’m Elena Volkov, a crypto journalist specializing in decentralized finance and regulatory developments. I hold a Master’s degree in Economics from Humboldt University in Berlin and began my career as a financial analyst at Deutsche Bank before discovering the world of cryptocurrencies in 2017.

What drew me to crypto was the promise of financial inclusion and the potential to create more transparent, accessible financial systems. I’ve spent the last seven years covering DeFi protocols, yield farming strategies, liquidity pools, and the evolving regulatory landscape across Europe and the United States. My background in traditional finance gives me a unique perspective on how decentralized systems challenge and complement existing financial infrastructure.

I’ve published research on stablecoin regulations, interviewed EU policymakers about MiCA legislation, and provided expert commentary on the intersection of traditional finance and crypto for outlets including The Block and Bloomberg Crypto. My articles focus on helping readers navigate the complex world of DeFi while understanding the legal and compliance considerations that shape this space.

Outside of journalism, I’m an active participant in governance proposals for several DAOs and enjoy attending crypto meetups in Berlin’s vibrant Web3 community. I speak four languages fluently—German, English, Russian, and French—which helps me track regulatory developments across multiple jurisdictions.
